Let’s Call This Version 1.2…
I hate writing process entries for my blogs (which is why they almost never happen) but felt this time is worth noting: after half a year out in the J-blogosphere wilderness doing the Sunday Blog Roundup and very little else, I decided to finally get back on track. (How’s that for mixed metaphors?) Actually, I decided to get back on track since I was first derailed, but up till now my efforts hadn’t worked out as well as I’d hoped. There was supposed to be a series of PV VS pieces in the last quarter of 2006, then a Top 12 Favorite PVs of the year at the start of 2007, but they never materialized.
Now, though, I’m foolish enough to promise a definitive return to regular blogging - not because I have more free time, but because I think I’ve got a better handle on how to use that time wisely. So just to give you an idea of what to expect: the Sunday Blog Roundup is over, and will be replaced by the Sunday Blog Spotlight starting next weekend. I need time off from the regular Sunday columns just to get myself back up to speed on other stuff. I don’t expect to be daily in my posts, but three times a week or so, not counting SBS. Shorter review pieces will appear, and there’ll be blog entries on other kinds of idols besides pop ones, mostly U15 gravure and AV idols.
And I’ll finally be reviewing all the videos of Morning Musume, from “Ai no Tane” to whatever the current one will be when I get to it. I started this project to make a point about the Golden Age - I mentioned wanting to do “The Postmodern ‘Love Machine’” as early as Cult of Pop 1.0 - but realized the grand narrative of Momusu PVs deserves to be looked at in its entirety. And actually, I’m thinking of doing videographies for a whole bunch of music acts I enjoy, but Momusu is the only one I know I’ll be doing.
So wish me luck, and keep an eye out for more blogging.
