Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s Haruna Moni Mescallado!

My little girl was born this morning at 9:07 AM Hawaiian Standard Time, weighing 6 pounds and 12.5 ounces (or 3076 grams) and measuring 19 inches.

Haruna is the current popular baby girl’s name in Japan and of course the perfect idol from the perfect idol group, SweetS. Moni is for my Dad Ramon (nicknamed Mon) and also a concession that “Lolita” and “Riefenstahl” are perhaps not good names to saddle on a child after all.

And yes, that means we can call her Haru Moni or (while she’s still small) Mini Moni or Petit Moni.

The child is healthy and has beautiful eyes and a full head of hair. Mother and daughter are both doing well and getting used to each other. And I’ve already read the Foreword and Chapter 1 of Nabokov’s Lolita to my little Haruna, as I intend to read to her every day of her childhood and might as well start out with the best.

With the suspense of the past couple weeks now over, regular blogging should resume in the next day or so.
